YOU ARE ALREADY PERFECT!!
But that perfection is Insulted by Society
_
As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live. --Johann Wolfgang von Goethe writer & philosopher _ Perfection Insulted
Give yourself a dollar for every book that’s on the market, every guru with ‘important pronouncements, trying to tell you that they have the key to your joy, the answer to your quest to get satisfaction and happiness out of your life; the secret.’ You know the one: - ‘the Big Secret!’ Your pockets would be full of dollars. If I have one overall message at all, it is that the secret is that there is no secret. Everything you need you already have. There is more – much more – of human perfection about you than you can ever know. What our program is about here is to return you to (at the very least) a useful amount of that perfection. In order for that to be anywhere near productive, we also need to remove some rubbish from the path. By the end of this program and our time together, I hope that I will have been successful in getting you to the fact that when it comes to secrets and keys, for you, and for most of us, these things have been hiding in plain sight. So, let’s go ahead and shine some lights on what is already there as part of your own arsenal of resources and capabilities to enjoy YOU. What’s RIGHT with you? Have you heard the grammatically mischievous saying, "God didn’t make no junk?" That, of course, is just another way of saying that people are more perfect than our culture allows us to accept. And our culture is heavily influenced by what pharmaceutical companies, doctors and psychotherapists, self-help gurus claim as being ‘scientific fact.’ But their claims are not of the types that brook questioning. Because of our culture’s love affair with treating physicians as semi-divine beings, their claims come down the line bearing the flavour of outright laws. And we are then faced with double-barreled fears; firstly, the fear of questioning the authority of our physicians (doctor’s orders), and secondly, the fear of being wrong if we do challenge what seems to be scientific truth. The Western world is becoming crippled by that which is apparently designed to help it. More than any other time in history, we are inventing syndromes, diseases and behavioral disorders today that didn’t exist yesterday. We have invented systems and methods to succeed in many areas that are too susceptible to failure. We’re being constantly told ‘so-and-so percent of the population suffers such-and-such a disorder without knowing it.’ And too many of us are believing these sales pitches – myths that are more often than not invented and released as ‘scientific fact’ by pharmaceutical companies and other operators that stand to profit most from the results of us believing those myths. Tanya, a recent client, told me in a follow-up session that when I first opened my mouth in our introductory session and said ‘There’s one thing I know about you that you don’t know; and that’s that you are already perfect,’ she got a big jolt that seemed to open up many avenues of feeling for her. Now, I’m not sure I know exactly what she meant by that, but it is true that I start my sessions off in that way every time I see someone. In the therapeutic setting it’s important for clinical affectologists to put the concept of inherent perfection forward to their clients – in fact it should be the cornerstone of ALL therapeutic approaches rather than the ‘what’s wrong with you’ approach. And in the professional setting, there are many reasons why I might make this comment – and they are explained to my clients. So, as this idea about inherent perfection applies to my writings here, we are interested in only one workable facet of the concept. And that is that perfect ability that we all possess in being able to re-learn anything that’s ever been learned in the past given new information and new realization. This equates perfectly with something we can easily recognize, and that’s our common ability to ‘change our mind.’ And that’s something that we do almost every day. It is not some remote secret therapeutic method that needs any mystical, philosophical or pharmaceutical guru to introduce you to. I propose that with a correct emotional attitude, and armed with the debates and information contained in the clinical affectology approach, you can not only change your mind on many levels, but you can keep the change!
